under wisps, footsteps

under wisps, footsteps,
between each note's progression
strides to my voice's various cliffs
caught got my gills clogged because
some dust you brushed off your back before
you forgot to
keep me around, keep me somewhere
in front.

what dug up dug in i
the Earth under my thumbnail
a cardboard cut, they were the
bed sheets for some paid love,
my coming kept going --
roots from my flesh for
tonight.

unseen primrose puff against the
wrinkles of our fists, no closed
hands--a touch at the poles, your
skin seeks my skin and my bones
beneath my body breathless by
light or string my flesh to be alongasideagainst the
heat that survived your standing up and
drifting a distance to see me, adoring you.

begin me

Tell a breath to
begin me. A
drink as a bruise,
a reach, a return; tell a
breath to exert me.

Something ruined: a
vine, pale and thin, a
vine to stretch against,
too limp to climb, some
sallow slowness
sinks, is
gone.
